Polaris Media was established in 2008 through the merger of Adresseavisen ASA and Harstad Tidende Gruppen, and is the only major media group in Norway with its headquarters outside Oslo. The company is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and headquartered in Trondheim. The group comprises a number of well-established media houses with deep historical roots, including Adresseavisen (founded in 1767), Sunnmørsposten, Romsdals Budstikke, Fædrelandsvennen, Harstad Tidende and iTromsø. On the Swedish west coast, Göteborgs-Posten is the group’s largest media house, and from 2025 Polaris Media is the sole owner of Stampen Media. A strong regional foundation combined with shared support functions across the group is an important part of the strategy, and the company has seen solid growth in digital subscribers and digital advertising revenues in recent years.
